Who we are
The Repair Club Nosara (“The Repair Club”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a property-care service operated from Playa Guiones, Nosara, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Scope
This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal data of website visitors, prospective members, and active members. It is written to comply with Costa Rica's Ley de Protección de la Persona frente al Tratamiento de sus Datos Personales (Ley 8968) and its regulations.
Personal data we collect
- Contact details you provide directly: name, phone or WhatsApp number, email address, and the address of the property to be serviced.
- Service records created during membership: visit dates, photo reports of property systems, work performed, materials used, and recommendations.
- Communication content you send us via WhatsApp, email, the website intake form, or our member portal.
- Payment information processed by our payment provider. We do not store full credit-card numbers on our systems; we store only the references our provider returns to us.
- Technical data automatically collected when you visit the website: IP address, browser, device type, and pages viewed, used solely for security and analytics.
How we use your data
- To deliver the services you requested or contracted us for.
- To schedule visits, dispatch technicians, and respond to emergencies.
- To maintain the property file we keep for each member.
- To send service reports, invoices, and operational updates.
- To answer your questions and improve our service.
- To comply with legal, accounting, and tax obligations in Costa Rica.
We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making and we do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Legal basis
We process personal data on the basis of (a) the contract between you and The Repair Club, (b) your prior consent where required by Ley 8968, (c) our legitimate interest in operating and securing the service, and (d) compliance with Costa Rican law.
How we share data
We share personal data only with:
- Our own employees and contractors who need it to perform a service for you, bound by confidentiality.
- Service providers that operate our infrastructure (hosting, analytics, payment processing, messaging). These providers process data on our instructions only.
- Authorities, when required by Costa Rican law or by a competent judicial order.
International transfers
Some of our service providers operate outside Costa Rica, typically in the United States and the European Union. When personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on providers that offer protection equivalent to that required by Ley 8968.
How long we keep data
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above. Active-member records are retained for the duration of the membership and for the period required by Costa Rican accounting and tax law after the membership ends. Website analytics data is retained for shorter periods.
Your rights (ARCO)
Under Ley 8968 you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Cancel personal data when it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected.
- Object to processing in specific circumstances permitted by law.
- Withdraw consent previously given, without affecting processing already carried out.

Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. No internet service can guarantee absolute security; where we detect a security incident affecting personal data, we will notify affected persons and the appropriate authorities as required by law.
Cookies
The website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality, security, and basic analytics. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser at any time.
Children
The Repair Club services are directed to property owners; we do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
